Last Friday, the 19th of Dec. was the last day for the pacifier. For almost 8 months Pierce has only used his pacifier for nite nite time, long taxi's rides, planes and when he is not in bed on time (at fault of parents). If he has the pacifier in his mouth when he wakes up in the morning we ask him "where does your pacifier go?" He then takes it out of his mouth and throws it in his bed and we usually do not see it again until nap time. Last Friday morning he snuck in his room and got it out of his bed and brought it to the living room, I saw him and said "where does that go?". He then walked over to the trash can and threw it away. My first reaction was "oh no" and then I went with it and told him "Pierce you threw your pacifier away that means no more pacifier". He didn't seem to be bothered by what I said so I went to his room and collected the left overs and hide them. That night we laid down for bed and he went to sleep (all night), woke up happy, laid him down for nap and he went to sleep... etc. etc. We are almost on a week and no pacifier.
We are thrilled and I know that our pediatrician would be thrilled too... HE HE HE.
There has been some things in his life so far where I have read books and they all about weaning him off of things (i.e. bottle, pacifier, diapers, music to go to sleep, etc.) But what I have found and I think it is bc he is such a strong willed child that he does things on his own time and does it 100%, he was this way with the bottle on his 1st birthday (no more bottle) and now his pacifier (close to his 2nd birthday) and I am assuming we should shoot for potty training by 3. We are so proud of him and so happy to be rid of the pacifier.
