Asher at 12 mos...

Asher John at 12 months

11kg - 90th percentile (same from previous month)
80 cm in length - 85th percentile (increase from previous month)
49cm in head circumference -  100th percentile (same from previous months)

Eating - Well just last month we were saying he would eat anything (which is still the case) but he does have him limits.  And now when he is finished he will throw the food/drink on the floor.  He is still a good eater and the amount is crazy (hence the big belly) but he sure is happy when he has a full belly.  We have now introduced whole milk and peanut butter to his diet and at first he was not a fan of the milk.  We kept trying and now we can him to drink a whole glass of milk over the course of the day and he prefers cold milk.

Sleeping - The same... still takes 2 naps and sleeps through the night.  Sleeping really well in his preferred environment.  He no longer will fall asleep in my arms (so sad) but still occasionally falls a sleep in his stroller.  We have been traveling a lot over the past month (Texas and back) and he does not like to sleep when he is not in a bed, it does not have to be his bed but a bed is a must.

Sounds - Mama, dada, bubba and BALL all the time

Best Trait - Social... we got another social butterfly.  He loves to be in Know and loves being around groups.  He will go to anyone and will usually leap out of my hands to get to the next person.

Nick Name - Little B, bubbie, bubba, Asher John and munchkin

Firsts - Steps... he has officially taken his first steps and the most we have seen are about 3-4 at a time.  He still is not "walking" and prefers to get around by crawling (really fast).  He can stand up without any assistance and can hold his balance for a time.  He can also hold us his finger showing you how old he is, when asked.

Updates - Asher is one... I still can't believe it.  He will always be the baby and we all adore him to pieces.  Other than taking his first steps and saying some new words, he still is our sweet perfect little angel.

Sweet Moment:  Asher seems to really enjoy being laid down for his naps.  He wears a sleep slack and when it is time to get in it he lays so still and gets all zipped up.  After I zip him up I pick him up and he throws his head on my shoulder.  He will never fall a sleep like that but he will let me cuddle with him, sing to him, rock him like that for how ever long I want to.  I usually will rock with him for a few minutes and sing him songs and pray over him as he presses all his wait into my shoulder and chest... I just love it.

Big Brother:  Still loves him to pieces (I say this bc I am sure there will be a time when they will fight... he he he).  Pierce has really stepped up to be a big helper.  He will run and get my towels, rags, toys, etc.  Pierce has even been caught cleaning up Asher's toys and when asked why he said "bc Asher can't do it yet".  Also recently there was a time when Asher was on the floor and I had the dishwasher opened and Pierce ran over and closed the dishwasher and said "mom there are knives in the dishwasher, you need to close the door for Asher's safety"... love my boys.

Memorable moment:  When daddy walked into the room and I almost dropped Asher bc he leaped out of my arms.  There have also been many occasions where I have been given a mean left hook from Asher as he twist his arms/body to get into Daddy's arms.

So glad to be back...

Thanks to my parents I got to go to College Station Kid Free... which was a huge blessing so I could hang out with my friend Kathy May and just get to love on her (with no distractions)... I also got to see an old friend from College.

From the beginning... I left FTW with the kids in good care and hit the road (just like when I was in college leaving Thanksgiving festivities in FTW and headed back to school).  I was feeling good had the stereo turned up and I was enjoying the scenery of the freeway and then all of a sudden traffic... terrible traffic.  We were being routed off of the freeway and crawling about 5 mph.  I called Kathy and told her what was going on and if she had any other suggestions of how I should get to CS... and she said "I know you are frustrated"... and I told her "how could I possibly be frustrated... I was all alone with no kids, not in a rush, I got the music turned up (my music) and no one needed me... life could not be better and I was not going to let this detour change that... I even rolled down the window and said hello to the officers (now if I had the kids with me that would not have been the case I am sure)... So off we went on an unknown adventure but 30 minutes later I was back on track.

I finally made it to CS and parked on campus and immediately noticed that it was move in day for the the freshman... Oh it was so exciting looking at all the family decked out in maroon, carrying maps of the campus and smiling from the ear the ear (well at the least the kids and the dads, the moms you could see little tears in their eyes).  I walked across campus to go to my old stomping grounds of where I use to work for 3 years, Harrington Tower.  I meet up with Kathy and got to see some professors I use to work with.  Then Kathy and I went for a walk to see the new MSC and see all the changes.  It was a great day filled with many memories.

Right outside Harrington Tower there is a statue with bricks at the feet of it... one of the bricks was for Sara May.

It looks a little different but still the same old flag room... I spent lots of time on those couches hanging out with fellow Aggies for Christ... great times.

After a night of catching up, Kathy and I headed to Sara's plot to spend sometime remembering our sweet Sara and having a good cry together.

Icing on the cake.. I got to have a Starbucks with my dear friend Paige.  What a great 24 hours... I wish I could do this all the time... and the best thing about going to college station and seeing these people it does not matter how much time goes by, we can pick up where we left off... very special for sure.

Hanging in FTW... more friends and family!

I love FTW for many reasons... I don't have enough time to mention them all but this family is one of the reasons.  My best friend from High School and her sweet family... see all our sweet children together... make my heart so happy.

Look at the kids being sensible... love it.

Another thing we love about FTW is my favorite snow cone stand... and my favorite flavor, Tigers Blood... yummy

Another favorite... time wtih ViVi and Grandad... they have so much love, many toys, and they watch the kids for me when I run errands (shopping and a trip to TAMU)... we just love our people.  Another post to come about a great 1st bday party by ViVi and Grandad.

Asher helping ViVi with the laundry

One of Pierce's favorite thing... and something he talks about for weeks before we go to Texas... is fishing with Grandad...

This picture is one that Blake wanted me to capture (and so glad that he did)... we were leaving FTW and headed back to Houston and we look back and Pierce has his Starbucks, book and legs crossed.... how old is this kid?

More time with family... what could be better?

We finally got the opportunity to meet Bailey, our new niece/cousin and she had Pierce at hello.  He still talks about how cute she is... and how sweet.  Our time with family is never long enough but we are thankful that we get to see them at least once a year.

Sweet moments between cousins...

And big sis Anna... what a jewel... love this little girl.

Pierce always enjoys Nana and Uncle Tim's house bc of the secret room full of toys... and this year he got to play in the water (hence the no pants).

Love me some Denton babies... wish we could all be together again.
