Paints, friends and fun = Craft Day

Back in Singapore I had a good friend that often had craft day at her house and this time last year we were gathered around her dining room table making crafts for the holidays... this year as I brought out those crafts for decorations I thought about her and all the kids and then thought I should do that here with my new friends and make new memories.. so we did... and here are some pics of our fun day.  The moms and kids loved it so much that one of the moms is having the next craft day at her house... can't wait... enjoy our pumpkin and placemat making with friends...

I have to say I love these pumpkins bc since we have  lived in a small flat now for 5 years... any decoration that folds up completely flat and does not take up to much space is an A+ in my book... they are stuffed with a roll of toilet paper and when done with the decor nothing goes to waste.

After all the fun inside... we had to layer up and go play outside for lunch and more fun.

Some photos from a friends camera... a great day for sure... can't wait for December.

Random fun at Home...

Don't you just love to stay at home some days... and just play, relax, read and enjoy being home.  Now that the summer has started for us we are getting to do that some... the days we stay with busy with friends is so much fun but I always say after that day is over... tomorrow lets just stay home and enjoy each other... put on a movie, do a puzzle, do a craft and just love being with each other.  Today is one of those days with the rain outside, chai tea on the stove, Pierce happy to be home... life could only be better if Daddy did not have to to work today.

Here are some pics of some random fun at home... we are so thankful to have a great house that feels like a home.

One day Pierce just wanted to cuddle on the couch with his handmade blanket from Auntie Elly and Uncle Keith...

One day I got busted for putting my feet up on the couch a little to long... Pierce got a picture of baby Asher...

Friday in our house is known as Jacuzzi Friday... so every Friday night Pierce gets a jacuzzi bath... just yesterday (wed) Pierce was asking is today Friday... we know why.

I love to wake up in the morning and my son is sitting beside me being really quiet and waiting patiently for me to wake up... this morning in particular... he was reading the newspaper.

We love to fill our days with crafts as well... and this one is a very special craft that we get to play with every day... did you ever make a countdown chain (counting down to something really exciting).  This was Pierce's first experience to do so and we had a lot of exciting days coming up so we had a lot of chains to make.  We took blue and green paper to make the chain and the on the special days we used red (special days: Daddy comes home from Singapore, last day of school/summer begins, ViVi and Grandad get here, Asher's arrival).  So much fun watching the chain get shorter and shorter.

Pierce drew on the red links to make sure he would remember why that day was special.  This was the last day of school picture... on the left is his school (in a house) and on the right is his home (high rise condo)... so cute.

And then a picture of baby Asher... already lying down on his blanket.

Pretty long chain and since I am behind on blogging about this... we have already reached two red links and now we are patiently awaiting the arrival of ViVi and Grandad (the next red link)... Yeah.

Thanks a Latte...

Thanks to Pinterest we were able to love on our teachers/principals/etc. back in Singapore to say Thank  You for all their hard work and loving on Pierce through the year.

They were simple to make and oh so cute... Pierce was pleased to pass them out to his teachers on his last day.  Thanks a Latte for all you do!

I would love to have more time for crafts...

My sister-n-law Elysse is so good at crafts and being crafty that I often want to be like her... so here is one of my attempts... I do not have a lot of holiday decorations so I have resorted to making them myself... I just never know how they will turn out... I saw this on Pinterest awhile back and gave it a try... making my own crafty garland... I went to a local seamstress and got some of her left over scraps and then to the $2 store and got some ribbon... and this is what happened...

Take a piece of rope and tie small scraps of material to it...

This is what it makes... it was cute and then for Thanksgiving I took off the SPOOKY and added THANKS... now on to the next craft... in about 6 months...

Flat Turkey...

We had so so so much fun with ViVi and Grandad and you will get to see a lot more of our fun... but here is just one activity (among many... or should I say projects) that they helped us with... I think they missed all the school projects... and I might add they still "got it".  One day Pierce came home from school with a "project" to make a flat turkey and to disguise it as one of our family members so it would not be eaten by anyone (for thanksgiving of course)... so what do you think we made.

Meet "Mr. Army Flat Turkey"... with a little materials from mother nature and in our house we had the best looking turkey around, and dressed in camo no one was going to find him to eat him... so much fun.  Thank you ViVi and Grandad for the help (they even went outside with Pierce twice to get the right leaves for the project) and the memories...

One proud boy... he was so happy.

Here are all the finished products in his class.. there was a Santa one, a chef, a taekwondo instructor and just some pretty ones.... so nice and a great fun time.

Pierce wanted this one to have some glitter... don't tell Daddy.
