Farewell Houston (again)!

As of today we have officially been in Dubai for 1 month, but I will try to start from the beginning of our journey. We left Houston on the 25th of Jan, 2018 and we were all excited. If I had to rate us, in my opinion I would say I was the most the most excited about the move, followed by Asher, then Blake and then Pierce. That will be interesting information only if you know where we stand today... who is most settled here in Dubai as of today in my opinion, Pierce would be first, then Blake and I are probably tied and lastly Asher. It is amazing the difference between expectations of a move versus reality in a move.

While our departure was quick, found out in Nov. that Dubai was an option, then traveling to Dubai in Dec. for a sight and see (where you pick our your house and school), followed by coming home to family and friends telling them over Christmas that we were leaving, we had about 1 month to say "see you later" to friends and family, pack our house up in three different segments (shipping to Dubai, storing in Houston, and leaving in the house), stage a house to get ready to put on the market, figure out what we were doing with Goldie, celebrate Pierce's 11th birthday, and not to mention this only child (me) was celebrating her 40th birthday.  Blake says he gave me Dubai for my 40th... he is amazing, isn't he?

Here are just a few of the faces that we got to spend time with you during our busy January.  We are better people having these beautiful people in our lives.  So many of them are not pictured here, but not one should go unnoticed.  You all made this move possible, you helped our hearts get filled up before we entered a country where no one knew our name.  We will be back and you will be one of the first hugs we give.  Thank you and we love you dearly.

Saying "see you later" to this dog... I can't even explain.  Goldie is still in the US with these sweet people next to me in the picture, they are saints to take on our little horse and love and spoil her rotten (she is sleeping on Emily's bed).  She will join us in April and we are all counting down the days.
The last days also included Blake's last day at the office (I was not able to get a picture :-) and the boys last days at school.  These two had some amazing teachers and we will forever be grateful for Sugarland Baptist and Oyster Creek for making their departure special and memorable.

We are back... are you still there?

We took a few years off from blogging, I needed it but I do regret that those days were not all recorded, maybe I will go back someday. We spent the last 3 1/2 years in Texas (July 2014 - Jan 2018) and now we have moved to Dubai. Our family and friends are once again a long way away, so we are starting back up with the Blog. I need to get my computer set up and figure out how to do this again, but let the documentation begin. We are so excited to show you Dubai... stay tuned. The short story is... we are one week in and we are loving it.

Texas soil... yeah!

...

After 30 hours (from door in Singapore to door in Texas) we finally getting settled in here in Texas. What a trip... Pierce did great especially on the 16 hour flight from Dubai to Houston... he was doing alot better than me :-). He slept alot and watched alot of movies... (some of you are cringing at the idea of watching alot of movies but when you are on a plane for 16 hours you got to do what you got to do... we are better off that way).

When we landed in Dubai Pierce is still in his PJ's since we woke him at 11am to head to the airport. We had a great time in the airport in Dubai. We had hoped to leave the airport and do some sight seeing but they had told us that it was a minimum of 8 hour lay over to leave the airport and we were only had 5 so we had to stay... but the HUGE airport kept us entertained for sure.

Here are some pics of Pierce playing in the airport... now remember this is like early early morning for him on Sing time... he did great.

I feel in love with all the different people in the airport... I love to people watch.

Here is Pierce refusing to eat... so he was pouting in his car seat...

What a lovely airport... full of some great architecture, lots of colors and some great memories now.

We touched down in Houston to find Aunt JuJu waiting at the airport for us. We made it back in time for dinner and we played a little and put Pierce to sleep. He slept all night but did wake up 3 times to just check to see if we were all in the right place but went right to sleep. The next day we stayed busy took some naps but was back in bed by 10pm... 8am awake and we are officially over jet lag.. this trip has been the best and easiest on Jet Lag. Pierce is a trooper and Blake has been our guide on what to do and what not to do the whole time... so good.
Here are some pics of Pierce and his best friend Grace... they are inseparable.

We are headed to DFW tomorrow for more adventures... see you soon.... and thanks for praying we can/could feel it.
