Day and Night 11 - A busy one...

Saturday started off with us leaving Great Mama at home to keep her feet up while the rest of us (excluding Blake since he was at work) went to Holland Village for some shopping. Grandad was in charge of Pierce, so ViVi and I could do some damage... lets just say we left a mark.

After shopping, Pierce and I came back home to meet up with Great Mama and Daddy and while most people were taking naps... I snapped a shot of a funeral that was taking place across the street... they held the service in a house and then the tradition for Asians is to load the casket in a see through van and have the family and friends walk behind the vehicle while placing a hand on the car... A walk to honor the dead.

After we all had our rest... Cena came to play with Pierce and the adults headed to Robinson Quay for dinner... we were blessed with a sneak peek at the rehearsal show for the National Day here in Singapore. Here is the pic of a fly over with the Singapore flag...

Also at this time... the River Festival is taking place..we got to see this cool boat docked for a rest... pretty interesting.

After dinner we headed to Clark Quay to wait for our 10pm reservation at the Grand Ballini (do you remember our New Years celebration.... we love this place and had to take everyone there). While we were waiting we saw a Martini Grand Prix Contest taking place...

And we watch the kite show... these are coolest things... I could not get a good shot of them in the sky bc they go so fast but a must see here in Singapore.

Our next (and last) stop of the night was Grand Ballini... we meet our friend Geoffrey there to watch the band. We had forgotten about the dress code for men... luckily they had on long pants but you are suppose to wear closed toed shoes... so the guys had to buy socks and then wear them with their shoes... I of course had to get a shot of this embarrassing moment.

Here are the guys waiting for the show...

Of course us ladies had to sit on the red couch... I have to get one of these... :-) We could not get Geoffrey in the pic bc he was talking to the waiter.

How to wear your flip flops in Asia... nice Blake!
We got home a little after midnight (we would like to blame it on Great Mama in having to get home at a descent time but I think we were all tired)... we all sleep like a baby.

New Years Eve at Bellini Grande!

New Years Eve was a blast... I could not have thought of a more perfect night... Thank you Geoffrey and Rita for inviting us to dinner and the party afterwards at Bellini Grande... we owe you one... we will have to do it in America next year. Here we are having dinner at a new Thai restaurant (Left to Right: Blake, Me, Allen, Victor, Geoffrey and Rita).

After dinner we got in this cab and headed to Bellini Grand... check out this cab... very festive, even had lights stapled to the seats... NICE!

We were greeted at the Bellini Grande with hats and noise makers for the new year... and once we got inside this is what it looked like... so awesome... each balloon was anchored with these glow in the dark bracelets... great idea and looks very festive.

The famous Bellini Grande dancers... they were awesome.

Here are the mask and hats... I could not get Blake to wear his... go figure.

Here was our whole gang... Dale and Joy joined us for the party... Joy was my dancing partner all night.

Happy New Year... There was some kissing on the lips taking place but this was the PG version.

Check out all these people... and this was taken around 2am... not sure when the party stopped but we left a little before 3am. Happy New Year from Singapore!

Grand Ballini's and a night out!

Last Saturday we went out with some friends to an Italian Restaurant near the red light district. Since we were so close I convinced the group to go so I could take a look. The Red Light district in Singapore is legal and very active. It was not what I expected but I thought you might find these picture interesting.
The picture above is a picture of the street.

All of the doors had a mesh screen over them so it was hard to see inside but the picture of the door above eliminated the "stairway to heaven"... NASTY.

Then we headed to the Grand Ballini... one my new favorite places in Singapore. It reminded me of being on a cruise ship at night... this is a hot spot for Singapore and you have to have a membership to get in (that is why we had never been) but we were invited by Geoffrey and Rita (on the right) to join them. There was tons of entertainment (see below), dancers, impersonators, music and more. We had a blast and will be celebrating New Years there.

Here is a picture of the dancers, they danced about 20+ routines all night... it was awesome.

More dancing of all types.
More dancing.... if you know me you know I loved it.
More dancing.
Here is the Michael Jackson impersonator... you have to see the video... To GOOD.

The King was found in Singapore.

Michael Jackson was even spotted... crazy but so good.

The dancers at Ballini... if you know me I was in heaven... I love dancing... I love to watch dancers... I love to be with friends...I love it all.
