First week at school...

You got to see Pierce's new school and many of you are asking how is it going... the answer is GREAT.  Pierce loves his new school, loves his teacher and assistant teacher and his new friends.  He comes home everyday worn out but happy.  I always ask him what he did that day and he says we played... but throughout the week I see and hear that he is learning too but his teacher makes it so much fun that he only answers we played... he is always happy to report that they play outside 3 times per day and there is no nap and they are allowed to talk at lunch... the little things...

At his new school his class has homework, this is Pierce's first time to have homework and boy was he excited.  He gets homework on Monday and it is not due until Friday but most every week he wants to do the homework that Monday night.  The first group of photos is him doing his first homework ever... and it won't be his last.

He also loves art class... they do stuff every week that they get to bring home.  The picture below is his dream home... an army station of course.  There were instructed to draw a picture of their dream house and he drew a police station bc I think someone else did that too but when they were asked to build it he changed it to an army station.

Another great surprise and huge BLESSING is that we found out that the school has a "Cool Club" on Wed, which is their half day at school.  The Cool Club is just like Sunday school which is help on campus but after school and done by a teacher there.  They spend an hour learning stories about God and Jesus, sing songs and then do a craft.  We were thrilled when we found out that this was available since Pierce came from a Christian school we really were sad that miss that part of school in Korea but God once again has answered our prayers.  His first week at Cool Club he made this prayer sheet... and he wanted to pray this prayer every night for days... and it now sitting in our kitchen to remind us that God will take care of all our needs and answer prayers.

Friday of his first week Pierce came home with this aware... This week's happy Award... and yes he is... happy to be here in Korea and the Hyundai Foreign School and so are we...

Last time to "Kook with Kay"

OK... walk with me as we go back in time... back to Singapore... my last time to "Kook with Kay"... yes most of you just fell out of your chair when I say I took a cooking class... but don't get up yet bc I took a lot of cooking classes... at first it was more of a social thing and then it turned out that I actually enjoyed chopping, stirring, learning, mixing and eating the yummy food that we made.

Here are some pics of our last time together... which was held at GiGi's... a great day for sure and some great food... and the best thing is I have tons of recipes now of asian cuisine... just not sure if I can make most of it without at least 8 other hands helping me.

Can you imagine getting all these supplies for one meal... wow wee...

A sweet lady for sure... and if anyone wants information about how to get into one of Kay's cooking classes... leave me a message... she is amazing and it is so much fun.

Spring Festival... part 2!

Are you ready for some more games and more fun... well we were... oh what a great day.  Blake got to play a lot of games with his new friends and co-workers.  Pierce and I did a lot of watching... it was fun but the funny part was Pierce was easily bored I had to remind him that we are usually watching him while he is playing or doing something... now we get to do it for daddy... we all enjoyed the day tremendously.

Here is a game that looked a little scary... it was a race of the colors to see who could get their designated person/idiot across a piece of cloth... a little scary...

The boys are still playing with their new toy.

Me and my buddy...

After the races we had to do something for Pierce... so he got hand painted and a balloon.

Back to the games for Blake.. now he is doing tug of war... come on daddy.

And another race... three legged race... they really did well...

Blake's team won a lot which was good for us bc every time you won you got a gift certificate or free gift.. here Pierce had to stand on the winner platform with his daddy.

Ulsan has a magazine called FLIK (foreigners living in Korea) that promotes coming event, highlights past events and provides information for coming weeks... it comes out every week and we had seen it around and when we came in Feb. everyone gave us a copy and said it was a good resource... well the June magazine came out... and guess who was on the cover... Pierce loves it... every time we are around town and see one he wants to get it.  I think the picture is funny bc I am very surprised I was smiling bc I remember being grossed out (again) by this game... Pierce had to be carried by us and then eat off this cracker that had already been previously eaten off of... yuck but a good picture...

Ladies Tea 2012 at IBC

One of my favorite events at IBC.. is the ladies Tea in May.  This was the first year that I did not decorate a table but it was nice sitting with friends and enjoying the morning (without working :-).  Here are just a few pics of the morning... I was not able to take pics of all the tables... bc by the time I stopped talking the host of the tables were tearing them down.

We were leaving Singapore in a few days so this was a sad farewell with lots of friends... they even had three of us come forward to say thank you which I was not expecting but happy to report that I "held it together".  So thankful for all that the Women's Ministry gave to me, provided me, taught me, and loved on me through the years.

Some pics of some great woman that I would love to "grow up" to be like... friends/sister for life.

Mother's Day Mandarin Concert... at ICS!

Pierce had a Mother's Day Mandarin Performance his last week of school... Blake was not able to be there since he was already in Korea but we both are so proud of him.  He knows more Mandarin than both Blake and I put together... and really enjoys singing (and dancing)... so this was perfect he would come home and practice for this show all the time.  He did a great job and really seemed to be into this year... We sure will miss opportunities like this in Singapore and to see him with all his classmates.

One little Indian...

Jesus Loves ME.

This is Pierce's first performance where he seemed really to be into all the songs and we are so proud...
QUACK QUACK... mandarin style. We are so thankful that Pierce had this time at ICS learning Mandarin... we are trying to keep him counting in Mandarin everyday and show him these videos to keep up the singing... we just don't want him to loose it... his Mandarin teach would appreciate that :-).

Our initial loves about Korea...

When we first arrived in Korea... we had so many things that we instantly fell in love with that made our new country all that better... first all the toilets are heated and have built in bidets... I personally have never used a bidet but since it was in my house I had to try it out... I will leave my comments out of the blog but I knew that Pierce would love it... and our toilet in the master room had a "kid" function... so next time pierce had a poo I told him about the button... just look at that face... he loves it... and now he has to go poo at home and in mommy and daddies toilet (which is good news for the guest)... but on a side note if you are having trouble getting your child to go poo in the toilet... get a bidet... oh my it will have your children lining up to go poo in the toilet...

Thanks to ViVi and Grandad we had a blow up mattress for Pierce until our shipment came in from Singapore... and boy was it comfortable and Pierce still had to use it even when he had his bed... but the thing I love about this picture is pierce went a grabbed a photo album that his friend Audrey back in Singapore made him when we left... we love that we have these memories and memorabilia to remind us of our friends in Singapore.

The parks... they are everywhere.. and oh boy have we had so much fun playing on them and meeting new friends that love to practice their English with us.  Pierce loves swings and there are two parks that are close to us that have them... life is so good.

Our new home... one of these buildings is ours... and we are on the 13th floor... we love our new home.  Just tonight Blake was saying that all was missing was the pool... I concur but I do also miss the trash shoot... but other than that... we are happy this is our new home.

Another near by playground...Pierce says this one is perfect for baby Asher.

Pierce and I made it to the top of our building... I think the 26th floor... and this was the view... there is a place to hang out and bring a grill but nothing fancy... but the view is great...

Blake says his first initial love is for the huge TV that came with the place... Blake was squinting in Singapore... not any more...

Space... there is space everywhere... outside/inside... enough inside for a tent... enough outside to ride bikes and "play tag".

There is a lot more to love and this is really all about our new home... but the first week we were here we rarely left on new condo... come and see more later.
