Last Friday we said goodbye to Pierce's teacher Mrs. Lee at the YWCA. She is relocating to another center... Thank you Mrs. Lee for always taking good care of my baby boy. We will miss you and remember you forever. Goodbye hugs.
I baked cookies for the students... I heard they were a big hit and here is Pierce feeding the teacher (I left the camera at school so they could take pictures for me).
I think this is where they sung Happy Birthday to Pierce and he gave Mrs. Lee a big air kiss.. so sweet... but why is he standing and everyone is sitting?
Pierce and I made goodie bags for the students full of candy, cars, noise makers, Slinky's and dinosaurs (all Pierce's favorite things). Mrs. Lee had them all sitting down and was about to show them what was inside...
And this is what happened... stampede!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pierce making sure everyone gets a goodie bag and enjoysthemselves... or he is trying to steal their car... which one do you think?
Ok... everyone is happy but where is Pierce.
Oh... playing with his car away from everyone... probably so no one will take it... HE HE HE
I thought this was a cute picture... what a great birthday... still more parties to go.. stay tuned.
Pierce's school the YWCA on the W. Coast put on a celebration in honor of 2008 and there was alot of dancing to praise music... I had to share some of the videos and pics. Here are the older kids dancing and Pierce had to join in (he is suppose to be sitting down.... go figure just like his mama... when there is music there must be dancing).
His class did the "CHUCHU Train"... he was in the back close to the teacher.
More dancing with the older kids... here you can see they are doing couple dancing.
There is nothing sweeter than seeing children dancing to praise music... here they are pointing to Jesus.
So cute.
Fellow older students at the YWCA dancing to praise music... you can hear Pierce in the background singing...what a blessing to have the YWCA.
For Pierce's class (the little ones) they did the "CHUCHU TRAIN"... he is so happy and loves the train. I will forever remember this smile.
Pierce and I made Christmas presents for all of his class mates... and here are a couple of pictures at the celebration last week. The above pic is of some of this classmates and his teacher Mrs. Lee. (In case you could not notice Pierce is the white one without a uniform).
Pierce of course had to help pass out the presents to his friends. (Another teacher was taking all the packages while mom was out shopping so that is why all the pictures are blurry... sorry).
I of course had to wrap all the presents so there was a big mess afterwards.
He looks a little disappointed in his present... what do you think?
What a hilarious picture to me....kicked back reading the book to his friends. There has been some frustration at the school with some of the teachers and parents saying that Pierce gets a lot of attention bc he is the only "white" kid...I talked with the teacher and we both agree that it has nothing to do with his ethnicity it is just his personality...he is very charismatic, energetic, never meets a stranger, hugs on everyone, always smiling and talking gibberish... I said to the teacher(and Blake) I think that no matter what school he went to Pierce was destined to be the "class favorite" or the "class clown"... what do you think?
We got another care package from my awesome in-laws... Janet and Hal Denton. You guys rock and we thank you for our holiday treat. I have already worn the dress, Blake has made a dent in the candy and Pierce loves his flashlight. Here is a picture of some treats that I made for all the kids in Pierce's class... I am so excited to be a mom for many reasons and a small one is that I get to make treats for his school... I am probably going to be one of those annoying moms that has to go to everything, bake the biggest cake (not the best but the biggest), and stay up all night make treats... My mom did this for me and it something I just can not wait to do for Pierce.
Ok.. there are four post (including this one) today... I am really trying to catch up so that is why there are so many... I took about 800 pictures while the Carr's where here so when you are saying "Is she going to show their entire trip while they were in Singapore?"... the answer is no... but I am really having a hard time cutting some of it out and I am really sparing you all the 800 photos so bare with me... HE HE HE
I know I have said it before but we really do miss the Carr's and I know that Pierce is very sad to see his girlfriend go. While Brooklyn was here she taught Pierce alot of things: How to share, how to say mine, how to communicate more with words, how to play well with others, how to hug, and much more. I have noticed a big difference in his demeanor with other children and his overall communication. I thought I was the only one who noticed but today when I picked Pierce up from school his teacher Mrs. Lee said that Pierce has been so well behaved with the other children, following directions and talking more in last two days than ever. I know it has some to do with age but I think alot of it has to do with having Brooklyn around for 2 weeks. Thanks Brooklyn!
I have a long list of blogs still to do... so stay tuned and enjoy the posts below.
This past Friday we took the kids to school so we could go to China Town (see the next post) and Brooklyn was so excited to ride the condo bus to school. You would ask her if she wanted to go to school with Pierce and she would say yes. Look at that big smile.
Pierce was happy to but I think I was squashing him. After we get off the bus we have to walk a couple of blocks to drop them off... this is up waiting for the little red man to turn green so we can cross the street.
Entering the school Brooklyn still seems happy but not sure where she is. As soon as we stepped inside they both ran to the table and wanted to paint... I think they had a good day. Brooklyn did cry a little but she was well taken care of. We are going to try and take them back to school on Monday we will see how it goes.
OK... I have told you about the Autumn Festival here in Singapore and you have seen a lot of pictures... but you have not seen how Pierce celebrated Autumn Festival at school yet... so here it is. I did not stay with him but I did give my camera to one of the teachers and she took all of these pictures. Thank you! Here one of the teachers is teaching the students about the full moon (the reason they are celebrating) there are about 60 kids sitting down listening and the only white kid is standing the front of the class... who is this kid... oh yeah he is mine... the things he gets away with there I will never understand... he is so spoiled. They ate moon cake... I do not like it but it seems that Pierce does not mind it.
Here he is holding the moon cake package and the kids are looking at him. Not sure what these are but Anooshka is putting them on his head... I thought that was cute. See all the kids sitting and my kid is walking around. Here is his class sitting in their class room ... not sure what they are talking about but the teacher is holding up one of the lanterns they made. Being funny lying down... ET phone home.
Now on his belly. Now running around. Playing with his lantern... there are two different kinds but sorry I don't know why the difference. They went for a walk around their school to show off their lanterns.
The first time we all took Pierce to school we all got a little sad... we had a good trip there but once we arrived Pierce started crying and then Vivi and then Grandad... my parents had just gotten here and we were headed the store and I did not want to lug Pierce around in the store so we took him to school... we learned after our first trip that Vivi and Grandad had to wait behind so Pierce would not get so sad... or maybe so Vivi and Grandad did not get so sad.
This was not the first trip we took to school but I thought I would share with you what our morning looks like when we take Pierce to school... he gets up around 8:30am has milk and breakfast and then he gets dressed, mom packs his bag for school and then we get on the bus around 9:05 to head out... quick morning so far. Then we get off the bus and start walking to school... Mom gets to carry all the stuff while Pierce and Vivi stroll along. Then we get to cross the street and Vivi was trying to teach him about the little green man and the little red man... and when to cross and when not to cross.
Then Vivi and Grandad stay behind while mom takes Pierce inside... Bye Bye he says. Once inside Vivi sneaks to the door to take one last picture of her grandson walking to class with his teacher.
National Day was Saturday but on Friday Pierce's school YWCA had a celebration where they invited the parents. They had entertainment and had the parents bring food. All the kids were asked to wear red and white (the country colors) and of course we had to go to the celebration... I brought along my camera for all of you to see the party. Ok... we arrived and Pierce carried the food the entire way... he was so proud of himself and all of his teachers were impressed that the food made it in one piece... Good Job PD Bird... I thought this was such a great picture of our arrival I had to share. We brought banana nut bread, brownies and chocolate chip cookies (the American style).
Here Pierce is sitting with his class having some juice... aren't they just adorable?
Having some milk ma... do you have to take my picture?
After milk/juice the kids were to have song time... but Pierce was more interested in showing off for mom...go figure. We then went on a parade... where all the kids waved their Singapore flag with pride (they had made these flags earlier in the week)... We first started walking around the apartments. Pierce did not know what to think...
Then we headed towards one of the Chinese temples near by. Now he is getting the hang of it... Him and his friend Martin with their teacher. Then they walked around the Hawker center (fast food in Asia)... all the locals where pointing and smiling at Pierce bc he was the only white kid (American). This was the only picture I could get Pierce next to the Singapore flag. If you look closely his shirt has the Singaporean Merlion (their mascot of sorts). Here Pierce is with his class... Tristan in the front here is so sweet.
The entertainment was the kids singing various Singaporean songs... they had practiced all week and really did a good job. There are alot of videos so if you can only watch one of them watch the last one... but they are all very cute. These kids have really tugged on some of my heart strings and I love them all... they just make me smile everytime I see these videos. This video is not very good due to all the adults walking around but it is the Singapore pledge so I had to share.
Here Pierce is sideways watching the show and then wanting his mommy.
The next military boys of Singapore... and Pierce deciding to join in the fun.
One Nation, One People, One Singapore... their anthem song here... and Pierce acting like a little 19 month old...throwing a fit and seeing his mamma... and then wanting his mamma... watch him in the bottom left hand corner.
Ok you have seen the older kids and now it was time for the "babies"... they are suppose to be sitting still and singing but you can see for your self what Pierce has chosen to do instead...he is everywhere. But I think it so cute to see him with all of his buddies playing.
If you watch any video watch this one... hilarious... Pierce just cracked me up.
