My closest Grocery store!

The closest place to my condo to buy groceries is at a local WET MARKET. I thought I would share my weekly outing with you to get some groceries. I have yet to buy meat at this market but I hear it is ok if you get there in the morning. The picture above shows some meat and there are those stinkin BLACK chickens again (no they are not bats... black chickens).

This is where I buy my fruit... it is very good and the little Asian man helps me pick out the best ones and he is always right on.

A place to buy some fish... haven't bought any of this either.

Anyone want some eggs... they have millions.
This is one of the places I get my veggies. When you buy from a wet market you have to make sure you clean it very good bc there is still alot of dirt on them.
Red Meat... it just does not look very cold in there does it?
You can get fresh coffee beans too... to bad we don't drink coffee.
Spices, herbs, dried fish, etc.

You can also get appliances, shoes, clocks, etc. here....
Or something to worship...
The Chinese have a tradition where they burn fake money (picture above) that supposedly when burned it goes to the deceased ancestors (so they will have money where ever they are)... Here is a man reading the package like it has ingredients or something.... i.e. gold 20 %, silver 30% paper 100%.... HE HE HE

Please let us know if you ever figure out what those weirdo black chickens are. It sounds like everything there is very fresh -- more like a farmers' market than a grocery store.

Thanks for taking us grocery shopping with you! All of those eggs are amazing, and I see why you have not bought meat yet.

Not like a good ol HEB but looks like the fresh veggies and fruit are good. I am with you on the meat and fish. Kindof scary. Miss you guys.

How convenient, you can pick up a little something for dinner and a little something for idol worship.

What an awesome post! This reminded me a lot of interesting markets I've seen around the world, though it looked quite a bit cleaner than many of them. ;-) Although I would be skeptical about buying the red meat, too! I have never in my life seen black chickens. What's that about??

Okay clearly we need more info on the black chickens...are they the ones producing all those eggs?

Where do you get your meat? I seem to remember a previous post about it. It sure doesn't look too appealing at that market.

My stomach is seriously getting ill just looking at the market. The fruit and veggies look great, but the chicken-bats just being next to the other stuff would be a deal-breaker for me!
