Easter Party at ICS...

This year we had so much Easter fun we are sad to see all the festivities come to an end... but one of the things I am thankful for is Pierce's school... where Easter can be about Jesus and not just bunnies and eggs.  The kids were looking forward to the Easter party all week I think bc they knew there would be an Egg Hunt and candy... but us parents (and teachers) or course had to plug in some good news about Jesus... The tomb was empty.

Pierce helped me make our gifts to the kids this year... we used old crayons (the broken beaten up ones that no one really likes to use) to make new ones in the shape of flowers... they are really easy and so cute.  Then we printed out a small coloring page and placed those and a piece of candy into an egg... Pierce had fun making the crayons and he was very much involved in the selection of the colors and who got what color(s).

We started the party out in the morning right after snack and some playtime outside with a craft... Thanks to GM and GP we had this really cool rainbow paper that Pierce loves to use and he wanted to share with his friends... Thankfully there were plenty of these pages to go around and still have a lot of fun at home... The kids loved them and the teacher even asked where we got the paper... well done GM and GP.

We had over 120 eggs... the kids were so excited to go hunting...

But before we could do that we had story time... where I read them the story of Jesus dying on the cross... and we ended there and talked about how that story made us feel and that during the egg hunt they go look for eggs and keep in mind that we are going to come back and read about Mary (Jesus' mother) that went to look for Jesus (kind of like a hunt in their minds) and could not find him... we will find out what happened when you get back.

Love the facial expression (you know you have to get into these stories).... but I love this picture bc baby Asher's bump is peaking through...

All the kids got their homemade (classmade) baskets and were lined up ready to go...

But before they could have more fun we made them take a class picture... they were so happy to oblige...

You can barely see all the eggs... but they were everywhere...

Once they finished they came back to class to get some water and aircon... here Pierce was upset one of his eggs was broken but his teachers were quick to come to the rescue...

Back to story time to find out the best part... not even Death could hold our Christ... The tomb was empty and He is Risen...

After story time we did resurrection eggs... 12 eggs that tell the story of Christ journey from being betrayed, beaten, killed, buried and resurrected.  The kids always love this and it is such a great way to share the best story of all.
