Pierce's big debut...

Saturday was Pierce's big debut... he has been practicing at school for weeks for this big day... his school puts on a big production for the graduating class (the class that is going to Kindergarten) and every class in the school does a song... since Pierce is kind of in two classes bc of his age he got to do 2 dances... I was a bit nervous.

Blake said that there was going to be 3 different reactions from the kids as the curtain opened...
1) Some would do EXACTLY as they were told and know every move,
2) Some would freeze, and then
3) would be Pierce doing his own thing... well we were wrong... you have got to check out the video's to see.... what did Pierce do?
The theme was a concert around the world... and Pierce was in the Hawaiian and Mexican dance.

The Graduation Ceremony... I had tears in my eyes and these were not even my kids... they were so cute.

The MC's for the night reading both English and Chinese...

And here is our little star in his first number... the Hawaiian dance. Look how big he is compared to all the other kids... wow.

He spotted us...and telling his teacher.

So happy to be on stage... but pretty still.

Here is a video of our little "Hawaiian"... not sure if you can count this as shaking your hips...

Yes you got it... he froze... can you believe the son of a dancer (and a mom that loves to be on stage) FROZE... he smiled and looked cute but lets see what he does on the next one...
Here is Pierce's friend and neighbor Alex (the only other Caucasian in his school) doing his Chinese dance.

OK... now it is Mexican time... still smiling do you think he danced this time?

Oh getting some movement...

Don't they look cute... and how precious is that little girl.

You have got to check out the video of our little Mexican dancer... he was having a blast and I am sure his partner did not know what to think...
He finally opened up on the second dance... he was a crazy man and having a blast.... we are so proud of him...
This picture was right after he took a bow... I hate that it is blurry but he looked right at us to see if we were happy with his performance... you better believe we were clapping and yelling good job.

During Intermission they brought us our crazy man... and he was ready for more...

hey did not want to keep him back stage... I don't blame them... but he was still dancing to the music.... so cute.

After the show and about to leave.... but Pierce decided to dance some more and play pick a boo with someone behind the curtain while I was trying to get him to say Hawaii.

Thanksgiving with the Singapore Supper Club!

Thanksgiving night the Custer's put on a great feast for our November Supper Club gathering... it is always great to get together with this group and it made Thanksgiving alot easier being so far away from alot of loved ones that we are thankful for during this time.

Our gang (minus the Willerton's who had to leave early and the Harkless who could not make it).
A great table display... and look at the yum yum food.... and it was yum yum...

Before our bellies were full (and Jennifer and Justin were still here... they had to leave early bc their son hurt himself).
After our bellies were full.

The girls after dinner.... relaxing and getting ready to play a game.

The boys... acting crazy... and yes they were posing...

The game of choice was a game from Australia called something like "roll the pigs" and depending on the stature in which they land you get points... sounds stupid yes I know but after the first round and making up alot of position titles you get really into it... we played 3 rounds and I won one and Blake won one... competitive family...but alot of fun.....

A great night with friends... and thanks for making the memory of our Thanksgiving 2009 so special.

Pierce loves school...

During this time of year... we are all thinking about all the things that we are thankful for... and a dear friend of mine wrote on her blog 100 things that she is thankful for (God is so good)... so she inspired me to write here about what I am thankful for.... but instead of doing 100 I want to share one of them... I am thankful that Pierce loves school... he loves it.. it is the first thing that comes out of his mouth when he wakes up... "mommy I go to school today".. and 3 days out of the week I get to say yes but the other days I usually have to say "No but we are going to do XYZ..."... He loves school... he gets dressed in the morning in his uniform and puts it on gladly, we get close to this school (whether we are walking, taking the bus or taxi) and he says... "there's my school"... he can even tell a taxi driver how to get there.... so cute.

He walks in to the house where the school is... and takes off his shoes in the driveway and then heads inside... he is so happy to be there that he almost always forgets to tell me bye.... then his teacher stops him and says "say bye bye to your mama"... and then I get a kiss... I am so thankful that Pierce loves his school and his classmates...

Below is Pierce school picture... these are the only ones that we got (not like the states where you can get more to pass out) but this one will be in his memory book for a lifetime... a total keeper... none of the kids are smiling but they are all sitting still (hands in laps) and looking at the camera (or a close proximity to).... wow... they even changed his clothes for the close up picture.... Thank you Kid's Corner for being a safe place for my children to learn, grow and make new friends... I am thankful!

P.S. check out how big Pierce is compared to all the other children.

That's a good one!

We are now approaching the age with Pierce where we are having some great conversations and he every now and then will say something that I want to remember forever and here is just a little taste:

Pierce and I pray together every night and I say what do you want to thank Jesus for... and then he will say something like mommy (HE HE HE) or August's birthday party or our car or Daddy or dinner with Violet or school... you get the point... and over the past couple of months if he comes up with something new I will say "that's a good one"... and then I always say Thank You Jesus...

Well just this week Pierce ask me ... "Mommy what are you thankful for"... and then I will say something like Pierce or our safety or our family or our living in Singapore and then he will say "That's a good one" and then he will wait for me to say something else and then he will say again "That's a good one"... I just love this kid...

P.S. For those that have asked I have updated Pierce's information on the side bar... check it out.

Our buddy and neighbor August turned 2!

Do you remember this little guy... August... our neighbor from Denmark... well he just turned 2!
Happy Birthday sweet August... Happy 2!

It was a morning full of friends, fellowship, food and swimming...

Alex and Pierce are best friends and worse enemies... isn't that the way it goes when you put 2 very strong willed kids together... they get so excited to see each other and do everything together but have the hardest time sharing...but they still love each other.

Pierce here is playing "fall down"... but I call it belly buster... ouch.

Pierce played with this exact airplane when he turned 2 (our party in FTW)... we brought it back to Singapore to play with and we thought it would be really cool if August borrowed it for his 2 year old birthday party.

Now my turn?

What a great morning... Thank you August for a great birthday party!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our loved ones... we wish we could be there with you (wherever you are) and tell you face to face you are blessing to us... and we are very thankful for you.

I just got this email from my Papa and it made me laugh... thought you would enjoy.

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes n' gravy have nary and lump,
May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take a prize,
May your thanksgiving dinner stay off your thighs...

Bangkok - shopping and eating!

Our first day in Bangkok we hit the street running... I mean shopping... we barely had enough time to drop our bags off at the hotel (and we had to bc we had to make room for our shopping bags) before we headed to the day market (forgot the name)... wow... the craziest thing I have ever been too and I had gone shopping in Beijing at the local markets... wow... you could buy plates to buying ducks (real ducks)... and you talk about alot of people but a great time... we stayed for about 6 hours and we had to leave bc we did not have any more room for bags and our feet were tired...

A bouquet of flowers made out of Thai money (baht).

For dinner the first night we ate at the hotel (not good) but I had to take a picture of the dessert of choice on the menu... Ice Cream (2 balls).

The next day we headed to Silam Village... a nicer boutique area... more expensive but air conditioned... HE HE HE

The last day we headed to the Jim Thompson Museum... beautiful.

This beautiful carved piece of word is a measuring device they used to measure silk... wow.
It was a great trip... good food... good shopping.. with some great friends...
