100 day photo shoot!

A 100 day old baby in Korea is a BIG deal... the old tradition is to say that if you baby makes it to 100 days they will survive.  So to this day they still celebrate this big milestone in many ways.  There is usually a big party/celebration for the family but we did not do that... however we did get a card from the hospital that said congratulations and we had a photo shoot, which is very common... they even have 100 day packages to purchase... Here are some pics of our photo shoot done in a studio (very Korean Style)... they turned out cute...

Even bubba got in on the action....

Usually all 100 days photos are done naked or in a Hanbok (Korean attire)... we rented the boys some Hanbok's to celebrate the occasion.

And since it was Christmas time we had some Christmas pics made just as a little extra... the funny thing is we did not have any Christmas clothes so they dressed Asher in their clothes.  A cute hat, a Christmas sweater and shorts... one of these things is not right????

This was at the end of the session and Asher was DONE... can you tell.  I love Pierces face bc he was yelling "mommy, mommy... help"...

We had the photographer write Merry Christmas in Korean on the next picture and we used this on the back of our Christmas card... when you buy the photo session you also get a year old photo session with the same company... so in August be on the look out for more...

Christmas at Jeonha Dong Church

This year our Christmas service was a little different than the ones we have been to before... we are blessed to see how many different cultures celebrate the birth of our King... we were privileged to be a part of the service this year.  Mom and Dad both read scripture, Pierce sang Silent Night and Baby Asher ate...

Sorry for the technical difficulties but you can still get a good idea of the singing... :-)  Enjoy.

We have a tree this year...

Since we have lived overseas we have yet to have a proper Christmas tree... and this year I wanted one... I would like to blame in on the kids (that they need a proper tree like I had one growing up) but truth be told I was being selfish... I needed a tree... all of our Christmas decorations are still back in Texas (we have a few that either have been shipped to us as presents over the year and or collected) and we did not have anything for a tree.... so I was either going to have buy them from Costco (BOOOO) or beg my mom to ship me a box... it did not take much begging... she was glad to help (she totally understands)... I was so excited about this box coming that I would check everyday at the guard house just to make sure I did not miss it... well it finally came and here are some pics... My mom is so talented... don't you think... she knew exactly what to ship me....

Oh yeah... also Pierce got his 25 days of Christmas... the presents are all wrapped and numbered and he gets to open a present every day... he totally remembers this... so excited.

Bought a tree at Costco and Pierce helped me fluff... Asher was a spectator...

What a joy to have a proper Christmas tree, to have my family and a mom and dad that love us so much to ship a huge package of decorations... don't tell customs :-).

Star of the Week...

Look who got Star of the Week... this award is something done by Pierce's school where they award one kid in each class that was the "star"... this person either was caught doing something good and kind, or showing improvement, a leader, a helper, etc... you get the idea... Pierce got the award from his music teacher and was very excited but during the whole presentation he tried to act really cool... we are so proud of this little guy... he is a star in our eyes and so thankful that one of his teachers feels the same.  Here are some pics of Friday assembly when they award all the children.

So excited... and we are so proud.  On the back of the certificate the teacher wrote that Pierce had shown great improvement in class this week, was excited to learn music and was not scared to fail and try again.

Playing catch up...

I can not believe it has been over a month since I have blogged... I miss my time with just me and computer... so we have a lot to catch up on.  Dec. 26th we left for the US and have since returned back to South Korea.  For 10 days I had a friend with me from Texas and she has now returned back to the good ol' state... so now it is time to catch you up on our life... aren't you just so excited...

Checking out the family...

A love gift from JuJu and Uncle KW... that keeps on giving...  It was full of all kinds of goodies... but the favorite was the picture book for Asher of all the family... He loves looking at all the pics...
