Days... where are they going?

Day 5 was Father's Day... we blinked and it was gone... Day 6 was Monday and we were so busy none of us took any pics (out of three cameras).

Day 7 (today) we found ourselves with a long day without Pierce, since he was a school field trip looking at vegetables and butterflies. We spent our whole morning and afternoon on Orchard Rd. (the main shopping street of Singapore).

Grandma needed her hair done... so after a great head massage and a lovely lady creating this masterpiece... Great Mama was ready for the day.

We did alot of walking and shopping and can you believe the only thing we bought was a door mat (for my front door which is really cute BTW) and food. We ate some local delights at an indoor food court called Food Republic and then we headed to the basement of Takasihmaya for some ice cream and Laska.

Moochi Ice cream is my favorite, it is from Japan and they take ice cream and wrap glutenous rice around it... pure heaven... and I had 3 balls of ice cream.. keep going back for more... you have to try it.

We got to watch some other Japanese delights being created... here is some pork on a stick...not sure if you can tell here but all the guy has to do is place the stick with meat on the clip and the machine does the rest... it moves along and cooks and then it is dipped in a sauce and baked some more.... what a machine.

After alot of walking and eating... Great Mama headed back to Grandad's hotel on Orchard to put her feet up and take a rest... and mom and I....

Headed to the pool on the top floor... I finally got some time to get some sun...
We are all resting now and waiting for Pierce to wake up... we are keeping tonight low key at the condo... but stay tuned for tomorrow's adventure on Arab Street.

Saturday Night... night on the town with Great Mama!

Saturday night was a big night... I think we all had a little quiet time during the afternoon to get ready to stay up late (even Great Mama stayed up until midnight)... we had so much.
We started off the night at the New Asia bar on the 71st floor of the Swissotel in Singapore... it is the best view you will get of Singapore...(why didn't someone fix my hair before this pic... terrible... Farrah Fawcet here I come).
Here Great Mama is capturing the moment...
While we were sitting and chatting we saw our friends Matt and Laura walk through the door... this island has alot of people but at times it feels like a small world... especially when you run into friends... they joined us for a drink.
A good look at the city and marina.
Here is a hazy shot (very cloudy evening) of the integrated resort that is being built on the marina... it is huge.

A great night shot of Clark Quay... were we are headed to next for dinner.

We had dinner at the Coffee Connoisseur at Clark Quay... they have some great salmon dishes... and the view is spectacular... we were even lucky enough to see the National Day Fire Work display rehearsal... great timing.

After dinner we had some Turkish Ice cream... this guy really puts on a show and has become a very popular place to take video and pics... Not sure what is in the ice cream but it taste like a mixture between marshmallows, taffy and ice cream... so good.

After dinner we jumped on these bikes and headed to Chijmes for a little dancing...

Once we got to Chijmes we saw this sitting outside the chapel... I guess there was a wedding inside... but check this car out... you rarely see old classics in Singapore.

After dinner we had to do some dancing... Here is the gang at Le Baroque (my favorite little spot in Chijmes).

Me and Great Mama... she was such a sport... when the band came on she took out her hearing aides... and later on you will see she even joined me on the dance floor.

I can never get Blake on the dance floor so this is the best I could get... middle school style....

There were some lady boys at the club and they were dancing not so nice... so here is ViVi covering up Great Mama's eyes... no peeking.

ViVi loves to dance and we got Great Mama to join us... but we just swayed to the music... we did not get to crazy. Check out the video below.

More dancing... is she a trooper or what?

I did have a dance partner to join me for some salsa dancing.. Jeff, Grandad's coworker is a great dancer and loves to dance... you can't tell it by the picture but Jeff was dancing circles around me... He is about to move here and I can't wait to get his wife and him back to Le Baroque... oh what fun.

Just in case you didn't believe me... here is 3 generations 'swaying' to the music...

We had a great night.

Happy Daddy's Day!

What a great Father's Day so far... we started off the morning at 8:30am where we went to get Pierce and then brought him back to bed for some snuggle time.... he was soon bored with that and Great Mama and I headed to the kitchen to make some homemade cranberry pancakes (not out of a box)... added with some turkey bacon and watermelon (Pierce's favorite right now)... we had a great breakfast together. ViVi and Grandad stayed in a hotel last night so we have not yet seen Grandad yet... but we will soon get to wish him to a Happy Daddy's Day!

Do you think this boy was happy this morning... he loves him some pancakes.

Here Pierce has one fork in hand (hoping to eat some more) and giving Daddy his present in the other hand.

At school Pierce painted this tie for daddy.

Then we got ready for church.... and off we went... what a great sermon today on teaching the next generation to follow Christ. As parents we do have a huge responsibility on our hands but we were reminded that we as parents can not 'save' our children, only God can... what a great reminder to lean on him for all things... including our children's salvation.
The card I gave Blake this year was a funny one (good cards are so hard to find here) but it was so fitting for our time right now... it read:
On the Front (there are two birds flying in the air): Drakes - You're all alike! Let's Just Stop and Ask For Directions.
Inside the Card: I'd follow you to the ends of the earth - even when you're lost. Happy Father's Day!
I found this card very fitting bc not only does Blake has some issues with if I think he is lost or not... but we followed Blake here to Singapore for his job and at times we might feel lost in this new country but that does not matter bc I would follow him wherever he went... we love our daddy.
This afternoon we are going to meet up with Grandad and go to the movies... to see The Taking of Pelham 123 in Gold Class... this is a tradition of Grandad and I's on Father's Day.
Happy Daddy's Day to all the Dad's out there but especially to the Dads in my life... Blake, Dale and Hal... I love you!

Margarita's with Grandad and Day 4!

Last night we went to Margarita's with the gang and Pierce finally got to see his Grandad. Their reunion brought tears to my eyes... Pierce was so excited to see his Grandad he kept leaning over to give him hugs and kisses.

Here is our gang... one of Grandad's coworkers joined us and then Blake's coworkers joined us (as usual on our Friday outing).

Great Mama made friends with Sunny... thank you Sunny for taking good care of Great Mama.

Pierce had to have water out of a wine glass.

Look at those smiles... do you think they were so happy to all be together.

Day 4 started off with a visit to ViVo City where Pierce got a haircut... finally.

ViVi and Grandad meet us there and they snuck in the back to admire the show... Pierce had no idea that they were there watching... he was such a good kid sitting so still. And don't miss out on checking out that orange Mohawk.

Grandad was the first one he went too...

Afterwards we headed outside to ride the pony's... so cute... he looks like a little man.

A Thai lunch out by the water watching to boats.... Daddy was at work.

Pierce wanted some popcorn for lunch.. check out those glasses.

After lunch we headed to Pierce's favorite store... The National Geographic Store..... Pierce was checking everything while Grandad and I stepped into the freezing chamber -4 degrees C.

This was the first time I think in almost a year where I have worn a heavy coat... and it was cold in there.

Here is why Pierce's favorite store is The National Geographic... not sure how it works but it can sense body heat and based on that it makes foot prints and creates dust when people run across... and there are hidden rats and scorpions in the sand... that is Pierce's favorite thing... to chase them... so cute.

Day 3 - China Town and more...

We have been having a blast with ViVi and Great Mama.... Pierce is acting so funny... he will do many things to show off and you will get to see alot of them but here he is sitting in my laundry basket... he pulled all the dirty clothes out and brought the basket to the living room and climbed inside...

One of our presents from ViVi and GD is for the 4th of July and we will have to wait to show it all to you but here we are representing our sunglasses.

My Mr. Cool... he just thought he was so cool.

Yesterday we got to show Great Mama the pool... we had so much fun splashing around and having fun in the sun (Great Mama was in the shade).

Day 3... we started off getting Pierce ready for school and then showing Great Mama and ViVi his new school.... he was so proud to show them where his shoes go.

We were worried that he might be sad to go to school today but he just ran right in...

Here are his class mates waiting for him...

Then we headed to China Town... our first stop (ViVi's favorite place) the wet market to buy some veggies and fruit.

We did NOT buy any frogs... but they were there.

Salmon... anyone?

Jack Fruit? For reference the tiles on the wall are 12x12... these were HUGE.

Then we went shopping.

We made lots of purchases...

And on our way out we got to see a Hindu Temple (yes we were still in China Town).
Tonight we are headed to Margartia's for dinner and we will finally get to see Grandad for the first time... oh what fun.
Stay tuned for the weekend adventures... alot has been planned.
