Tours around Singapore... with K & E!

Since we only had a week with K & E we had to fit in as much as possible... so hopefully they would fall in love with Singapore the same way we did... First stop Hippo Bus Tour with a flyover view by the Singapore Flyer...

There is always something being built in Singapore... this was the first time I got to see this and still have no idea what it is going to be...

Keith being the sports lover that he is was very fascinated with the floating soccer field in the next picture.

Once we got on land we were happy to have both feet back on the ground... next stop Hippo Bus Tour to see Little India and China Town.

Suntec City... fountain of Wealth... the money should start rolling in any day now... we completed our 7 laps around the fountain... this was our pre-millionaire picture... can't wait to show you the post-millionaire pic.

Our last day with Uncle Chris...

Wow... our last day... it was really last Sunday (a week ago today) but it already feels like last month... I guess life with a 2.5 year old just goes by to fast... we do miss Uncle Chris alot and we had a great time when he was here.

Last Sunday was our last day together... we had a slow morning with packing and getting ready for Chris to board a plane that night... we headed out a little before lunch to have a great hamburger in Singapore and then we headed to do some last minute shopping/picking some stuff up and then we headed to Quayside (Clark Quay and Boat Quay) to see the marina.

We then thought it would be a good idea to hop on board one of the Hippo Tour boats to see the rest of the marina... we got some good shots and this was my first tour with them so it was nice to see somethings for the first time.

A famous statue of some local kids jumping into the water.... this used to be allowed but not anymore. They made this statue to remember the good ol days.

Clark Quay.

The building on the right is the tallest building in Singapore... 82 floors (I think I remember) they are not allowed to build any taller than this in Singapore bc of how close everything is to the airport.

After our tour... we were both hot and sweaty (and I forgot to tell you we are trucking around both of Chris' luggage's')... so we decided to pop into Brewerks for a cold drink... Chris got the sampler...

Then with luggage's in tow we headed for our tour through Boat Quay for some famous Chili Crab. When you eat this you have to dress in a very large bib... from your neck to your knees...

oh so good... yum yum.

After dinner we headed to the ice bar across the street... the only place in Singapore where you want to wear a coat... it was -4 degrees Celsius. BUUURRRRR

Oh so cold... my feet were freezing after we finished our drink... but this is where goodbye happened... I just hate goodbyes...

I put Chris in a Mercedes cab (he left in style) and we said goodbye... there he goes... come back soon.

Thanks so much for coming to see us... I wish you could have spent more time with Blake but selfishly I enjoyed having you all to myself.. we had a blast and can't wait to see you again... maybe in Australia... HE HE HE

Day 2 - Touring Singapore with ViVi and Great Mama!

We have some troopers on our hands... Great Mama and Vivi were up around 6:30am this morning and waited on me to get up around 8am... go figure. After breakfast, hanging out in the morning, getting everyone dressed we headed to take a HIPPO bus tour of Little India and China Town. Here is the gang in the taxi headed towards Suntec City Mall. Check out that cool shirt Pierce is wearing... his ViVi and Grandad brought that for him.

We first got a little taste of Little India.

Here is a local market where they sell spices and such.

Governmental Housing... check out the drying system.

The Public Library... never seen a prettier library before.

The Infamous Raffles Hotel (When stars visit Singapore this is where they stay).... the Singapore Sling was first created here at the Long Bar.

Here are 2 of the 3 tallest buildings in Singapore. All three of them are the exact same height.

The Supreme Court... or a UFO...

The first casino (integrated resort to be politically correct) is currently underway here... and they are getting close in finishing the bridge... suppose to look like a DNA structure... pretty cool.

After our tour we went to have some Thai food... here Pierce is loving his pad thai...

We are having a blast... Mom is now working out... Pierce is taking a nap... Great Mama is having some quiet time and I am blogging (of course)... see you tomorrow.

Day 3 with The Dentons!

Friday morning we headed to the city to jump on the HIPPO bus for a tour of Little India and Little China. The morning was perfect weather and we learned lots of new things...

Pierce really enjoyed the ride and sat there the entire time.

Even enjoyed his sun shades (or mommies).

Then we went the Fountain of Wealth to see if we could get wealthy.

Love this pic.... not sure if you can tell but Pierce has found his nose and loves to dig around in it.

The only way to see the city... by a HIPPO!

The only way to see the city (in my opinion) is by HIPPO... which is a double decker (no roof) tour bus. I have been on the ride twice and each time I have learned something new about the city. With the Carr's we toured Orchard Rd and Little India.

Here is a picture of the Esplanade Theatre... which was built to resemble the famous DURIAN fruit... see next picture.

The King fruit here in Asia... smells bad but I hear it takes good (some people love it and some people hate it)... never tried it my self but I have smelt it and it is BAD... it is so strong it is against the law to carry this fruit on any public transportation that is not your own.

A cool shot of the "Singapore Flyer".... it takes 31 minutes to make a complete rotation and each capsule is big enough to hold 20+ standing adults.

Here is a picture of Mark's favorite building in Singapore... I forgot what is was but it sure if beautiful.

This picture is very interesting and I hope that you can understand my jargon to try and explain it. The cross street that we are looking at is called "Beach Street"... do you see a Beach around? NO. It is called Beach street bc all the land that is passed this street (starting where the blue van is and up) has been re-claimed land. Singapore re purposes land by creating it with packed sand... they build reservoirs and bring in sand and make new land.... So in a nut shell Singapore keeps getting bigger and bigger in size bc they keep adding on... kind of like remodeling a home. So once this street that you are looking at use to be on the beach... now it is a long ways away.

This is a great picture to show you how much construction there is in Singapore... I hear it is always this way. Check out that apartment in the back.

Here is a picture of the largest Chinese Temple in Singapore located in China Town.

After our great tour we stopped to have some Sushi (conveyor belt style). This was my first experience with the conveyor belt and it was a great one. Since we were there at lunch it was all you can eat for $14... the trick was if you look closely the plates are different colors... it was all you could eat but only 1 red plate (which of course I wanted all the red plates). But Mark was determined to eat way past his $14 and I think we all did.
