ICS 2012 FUN RUN...

2 weekends ago we had the annual ICS fun run... last year Pierce and I both did the 5K but this year Pierce wanted to run with his friends in the 750.  He had been practicing at school and was so happy to "win the race".  Here we are on race day.
This was Pierce stretching... at least he was looking at the ground.

Pierce and his buddy Wietze did a practice run in the sand...

The start of the 5K... this year we were able to cheer from the side lines at the beginning of the race.

The boys walking to their race...

Pierce was ready... he lined up with the  year olds.... this was not his race but he sure was ready... the boy next to him in the picture below won the race for the older kids...

Waiting for our turn...

Ok... finally our turn and a lot more kids... it was a packed line up...

Getting ready to go... I thought about taking Pierce's hat off but he did not want me too... I was wondering how this was going to end up... and I really never thought twice about the 750 for Pierce but that is almost a mile... wow check out the finish.

Let the race begin... Pierce is in the white hat towards the back... you might have to watch twice to find him... he had a good pace...

There was a short distance where the kids were out of sight... they got to the end and then had to turn around and come back so us parents stayed put so we could get pics of them crossing the finish... Here come Pierce... hat in hand at the front of this pack.

And there he goes...

I did not get a good picture of him crossing the finish line bc I was yelling to much... but as he crossed the finish line he threw his hat in the air.  So cute.  Later in the car I told him I was sorry I should have taken his hat so he did not have to carry it and run and he said no mom if you took it then I could not have thrown it at the finish line... so cute that boy...

Here is Mia and Pierce afterwards... leaning against a tree trying to catch their breath... so proud of this little man.

ICS FUNd Run!

About a month ago ICS (Pierce's school) had a FUNd Run to raise money for some scholarships at the school. This would be our first 5K together so we were not sure how it was going to go. We did find out last minute that dad was not going to be able to join us so off we went just Pierce and I... I had planned on running and Pierce was going to ride his scooter alongside me the whole way or at least as long as we could make it. The run was held at West Coast Park (our old stomping grounds and we were excited to go back). Check it out below and see how we did...

They wanted us to stretch before hand... Pierce is about as limber as daddy...

Pierce did a great job he did the ENTIRE race on his scooter and I only had to pull him a couple of times when he need a break. I was definitely running, jogging or pulling the whole time. Pierce was a cheerleader for the entire 5K yelling... "Good job ICS" leaving everyone we passed with a smile. I am happy to report that Pierce and I both crossed the finish line 39 minutes later... for our first 5K together that is not to bad... I was so proud of him for sure.

Here is a picture of the winner (shirtless) that finished in 14 min and the second place (on far left) that finished shortly after him and the third who they had to cross over the finish line bc he fell... but they all finished under 15 min. I believe... crazy. I remember them passing us when I felt like we had been running like 5 min... The picture is a sweet picture bc after the first place and second place crossed they turned around the pick the guy in the middle up (which is a custodial worker at the school) and carry him across the finish line.. amazing...

After the race we had another fund raiser with class baskets... each class was in charge of making a themed basked, then people would buy tickets to vote, then a ticket was picked from each basked to win that basket and then the basked with the most votes that class got a school party. Here is Pierce with one of his class mates looking at all the baskets.

Here was our class basket... since I am room mom it was my job to put together... a movie night basket... I thought it was good but we did not win.

They even had donuts... and Pierce was first in line.

After the race they sold the left over donuts on an auction for more money and you could take home a dozen donuts... Pierce really wanted a dozen... can you see him here in front betting...

He finally won as the highest bidder... he was so proud to run on stage with his money and claim his prize.

What is better than after a hot days run in the sun... playing the sand with friends...hey did you know that sand sticks really well to sweaty bodies???

Picnic in the Park with friends!

The Unruh fam invited us to join them at a park picnic and concert evening this past Sunday... Jayme works at Chevron and they were the sponsor... great friends, great music, great weather, and alot of fun... thanks Gillian and Jayme for the invitation.

When we first got there the guys wants to throw a Frisbee... well Pierce of course had to get in the fun.

Look at that form... the Frisbee is upside down but great form...

"Go Long Daddy".
After the kids were getting tired of running around... Gillian grabbed all the kids and we headed to make some kites so we could fly a kite (wish we would have brought ours but was not thinking).

We got to color the kites first.... and can you believe they gave us PERMANENT markers... what were they thinking....

The kids could not get the kites up by themselves but Pierce was not to happy that daddy was the only one who could fly it... here they were have a convo about who was going to fly it...

Daddy Jayme

Here Gillian and Jessica are trying to get the kites up... so funny I had to get the camera... I do have to note that I tried it with G before J came to rescue us and I could not get it up either.

We soon had to rest and take a breather... snacks and then dinner...

Is he not the cutest baby ever... oh how he is so yummy.... love our little Kaelan.

After dinner the kids were off again.. using someone else's toys.. but what a great Sunday that was... we can't wait until the next picnic is the park.
