Asher 11 months

Asher John at 11 months

10.7 kg - 87th percentile (increase from previous month)
77.5 cm in length -87th percentile (same from previous month)
49 cm in head circumference -  99th percentile (same from previous months)

Eating - Blake and I were just saying that we think Asher would eat all day (would have to break to sleep and an occasional diaper change) long.  He loves to eat and eat anything.  He has yet to refuse anything but I am sure the day is coming.

Sleeping - The same, He still has two naps, one in the am and one in the late afternoon and then sleeps 12 hours at night.  He is a good sleeper but just like his brother he likes to be in his bed or the car seat.  He is a very social baby so if we are out in public he has to be extremely exhausted to go to sleep.  I still enjoy the occasional night feed where he will fall a sleep in my arms.  I am holding on to those moments for I know they will be over soon, every time it happens I feel like it might be my last.

Sounds - More and More sounds... still mama, Dada, bubba (sometimes) and now we are trying to get him to say ball.  He loves balls so it is only fitting.

Best Trait - This month I want to say something about Asher that I am little scared of (so not necessarily his best trait) but if he sees something he wants or if I take something away from him... he makes a really loud cry coupled with a really mad face.  At first it is kind of funny but then a little scary how fast he can switch between so happy and then really ticked off.  So not his best trait but something worth writing about.  He still loves his daddy and brother to pieces and one thing I have really enjoyed watching him do this month is when daddy smiles at him really big, Asher will smile back but them bury his chin in his shoulder like he is shy. He will also do this to people in the elevator that try to talk to him while smiling.  He bats his eye lashes and dips his chin down and looks through those long eye lashes... sweet baby.

Nick Name - Still bubbie and Asher Johnny Boy.

Firsts - Pulling up and Standing anywhere he can get to.  He pulls up on my legs, on furniture, on Pierce and more.  He is also from a crawling position putting both legs out like he is going to do a crab walk, I am afraid it is only a matter of time before he starts walking EVERYWHERE.  Asher has also learned how to say "Bye" while waiving.  He has not learned really when to say it yet bc we just do it all the time but it is so cute.

Updates - We have 8 teeth... and oh boy does he know how to use them.  Also Asher seems to be trying to move from 2 naps to 1 nap.  Everything I read online says it is not time yet (he is too young) but I think this one is not going to require as much sleep as his brother did.  Asher definitely just hast to go with the flow but he will not sleep on the go so he just enjoys the outing and usually is really pleasant even if it is nap time.  He is very curious and loves people... seems we have another extrovert.  Oh no!

Sweet Moment:  Since he is crawling around more there are new ways to get hurt and a lot more opportunities to do so.  But the sweet part is he wants to be held by mama when he does get hurt and I love it... I mean love it.  I love how he wraps his legs around my waist and leans in for a hug.  Also in the morning when you go to get him he is just playing in his bed and I like to sneak in and when he finally sees me... I get the biggest smile.

Big Brother:  Loves him... Pierce will often want to cuddle with Asher and when he gets to he smothers him with kisses.  If Asher is on the ground, Pierce is on the ground.. if Asher is in his bed playing, Pierce is in his bed playing with him, etc.  A sweet moment was I was feeding Asher some eggs the other day and brother came up to say how cute Asher was (which is an common statement around here) and Asher reached out with a fist full of eggs and fed it to Pierce.  Pierce did not know what to do so I said eat it, which he did and Asher loved it so he kept doing it over and over again.  Pierce then said "Good job brother, you are learning to share"

Memorable moment:  A sweet moment was I was feeding Asher some eggs the other day and brother came up to say how cute Asher was (which is an common statement around here) and Asher reached out with a fist full of eggs and fed it to Pierce.  Pierce did not know what to do so I said eat it, which he did and Asher loved it so he kept doing it over and over again.  Pierce then said "Good job brother, you are learning to share"

The crawling skill progression...

For all those grandparents and aunts/uncles that missed the progression of crawling... here are some videos in order of learning the new skill...

May 19, 2013 - Trying and wanting to move so bad... more of a survival of the fittest arm pull.

May 19, 2013 - He can now get up on all fours but still not a lot of movement and boy does he get frustrated when he does this... and yes a Balloon... shouldn't all babies have one of these to play with?

May 22, 2013 - Getting on all fours a little more and moving more... but still so curious about everything so he does not need to go far.

May 26th 2013 -  Asher is moving more and more... wobbly and the occasional face plant... but it does not slow him down.

June 13 2013 -  Let me introduce to you the more efficient way of crawling according to Asher... the one legged push crawl.  Here is our super star... he is so happy that he can move even faster now.

Hope you enjoyed the play by play... we have a crawler now and he is enjoying the freedom and usually objects to being placed in his jumper or somewhere where he is not allowed to roam freely.

Asher at 10 mos.

Asher John at 10 months

10kg - 80th percentile (decrease from previous month)
77cm in length -95th percentile (increase from previous month)
48cm in head circumference -  100th percentile (same from previous months)

Eating - A LOT.  He can pretty much eat everything that we eat as long as it does not require to much chewing.  He had fish for the first time (halibut) and loved it.  He has yet to reject anything

Sleeping - The same... still two naps and 12 hours at night... but he is definitely getting more opinionated when you lie him down for his naps.  I am not sure if he is trying to work it down to one nap or if he is more mobile now so he likes to cruise around the bed for about 15 min. before he goes to sleep.  I am hoping that we keep the two naps for a couple more months... only time will tell.

Sounds - Saying Dada and Mama and we believe the first word was Dada... but it usually goes like this Dada Dada Dada Dada.

Best Trait - He is a sweet baby but I still think the best thing about him is how much he loves his daddy and brother.  Either one of them walk into room and the whole world stops spinning.  I love it.

Nick Name - same... Bubby has stuck and Pierce recently gave him a new one... LB for little brother and Pierce's is BB for big brother.

Firsts - Crawling... he is on all fours now... really not moving around really fast and still takes a few blows to the face every now and then... but I am not really encouraging the crawling so it could be my fault.  Also Asher got a walker and is cruising in it around the house.  Loves to chase his brother but at times get confused with backwards and forwards.  And if he gets stuck in a room and can't see anyone he gets mad.  Also Asher got his two front teeth this past month.  Kids always look so much older with the two front teeth so it is a happy/sad moment.  Asher can now clap and loves it when he realizes he is doing it all by himself... such a big boy.

Updates - Teeth... wow... we got a lot of new teeth... we have 4 on the bottom and the two front on top have broken the skin and the ones next to them look like they are coming any day.  Asher has really felt this round of teeth... he has been really telling us all about it (in his own way), including a lot of drool, snot, ear tugging, complaining and even the runs.

Big Brother:  The other night we were having dinner and I said "Bubba I love you" and Pierce did not say anything back... I asked him if he heard me and he said yes and I thought you were talking to Asher.  I said Asher is bubby and you are bubba right?  Pierce then told me I need to say it to Bubby so he does not feel jealous.

Memorable moment:  The night of Asher's 10 month marker he was in the ER... a brief visit when I drove out of the parking lot the computer told me I had only been there for 29 minutes... 29 minutes to park, walk, check in, get a short vital, see the doctor, leave, walk, drive out of parking garage... 29 min... man that is efficiency at its finest... oh well I am sure you are asking why were we at the hospital... well at bath time... daddy was in charge and put Asher in the tub with water and instructed big brother to watch him (to make sure he did not hurt himself) while Daddy went to sit on the toilet (which was only 3 feet away).  Well you can imagine what comes next... yes Asher tries to stand up, brother panics and tries to get him to sit down (softly) but then Asher slips and goes under water, daddy comes running off the toilet to save the day.  After a few tears and some coughs we think all is well, until I give Asher a bottle and the kid is out cold (a sleep).  Even brother and daddy come to say goodnight which usually gets Asher all excited but tonight there was just rolling of the eyes into the back of the head.  So I put him in bed and nothing... no crawling, no chatting, just out... so we get on google (which is never a good idea) and we start reading about all the TERRIBLE things that could happen if a child gets water in their lungs and one symptom is extreme tiredness... So Blake gave me the look and said lets take him to the doctor... so we did... and the hospital was fabulous... great service.. in and out and it was FREE... and the best news... Asher was fine.

This is a new face... love it...

Disclaimer:  I took these pics a little later than his 10 month marker and he got a couple more teeth since then and now... but I just had to add this picture... just imagine him with only two teeth on top.

Here's that face again....

Learning to sit up... I know this one is late...

Yes we have been able to sit up since March... but how could we skip these photos of our little man when he realized he could do it all by himself...

Sometimes we fall down... but we must get back up again.

I was snapping pics of Asher while bubba was in the bath.. here's our big boy...
