Dim Sum and more Goodbye's...

Who does not like Dim Sum... if you are hungry and near a Dim Sum Restaurant you have got to stop and eat... yummy.  A group of us took Vicki Peltier their to say goodbye.  She left Singapore about a month ago and is now back in Texas.  I meet Vicki while we were in Texas last year scouting out schools (that is when we thought we were moving back).  She worked in one of the admin offices and she told me she was moving to Singapore... and that just made my day.  I told her I would hook her up with where to shop, eat, live, go to church and more... and we were instant friends.  She came here prego with twins and had her baby girls here in Singapore stayed a year and is now gone... the life of an expat... always changing with a lot of goodbye's.  I miss you Vicki...

Here is a photo of the pecking duck we ordered... yummy.

Look at all that food.. yummy.

This is our cooking class regulars... we have had fun cooking and eating together...

Singapore will never be the same without your sweet spirit and "can do" spirit... until we meet again...

Chinatown and Night Life with K & E...

Pierce had a long day at school on Tuesday so we filled that time with lots of stuff like shopping and sight seeing... what a great patient man Keith is right... here we are China Town in the down pour.

Throughout the week we had to take Keith and Elysse to our favorite restaurants and roof top bars to see the city.

The best view of the city... at the top of the UOB building.

Some good old Japanese BBQ... yummy.

Some great memories.

A day with Dons!

...

Tonya and Esan left in the morning back to Thailand but I got the rest of the day with Dons... and it was a busy day trying to see all of Singapore in a couple of hours... but by visiting the Singapore Flyer and China Town we got to see alot... it was a great day with Dionne but I had to say goodbye to her that night... I felt like I had a my people with me for a weekend and then before I knew it they were gone... I already miss them so much...

Here are some pics of our adventure on the Singapore Flyer... the largest "Ferris wheel" in the world...

They even gave us maps and little head sets so we could learn more about Singapore.

Look at all those boats...

The containers holds up to 20 people....and it takes 30 minutes to go all the way around.

And really the best view to see the city... here is the marina where one of the Casino's is being built.

This picture was taken for my husband.. he loved it...

A good looking golf course near by....

Afterwards we headed to China Town... to do some shopping...

A great day... and one that will be in the memory bank forever....

BUSY BUSY BUSY... Day 1 con't.

Well you already saw our morning are you ready for our night... wow were we busy...

At one point of our afternoon and evening we stopped and realized that Uncle Chris had been on a plane, taxi, subway and bus all within 24 hours... He is such a trooper and keeps going... we are having a blast.

After Pierce woke up from his nap on Sat. we headed to West Coast Park... and to our surprise there was a children's festival going on... I joked with Chris saying that he came all this way to watch Pierce ride rides... we we originally went to see the water, boats, and park but once Pierce saw the rides... it was history... so off we went.

Here is a great pic of all the kites.

Riding Rides...

Then right before Dinner time Cena came to pick up Pierce and take him home and Chris and I were off to China Town for some dinner and to celebrate the Autumn Lantern Festival.
We had a great dinner in Chinatown and then a friend of mine (and her sister-n-law) met up with us to tour China Town and Little India.
We were walking through China Town and we did not notice anyone with lanterns and then we heard some music and headed towards the sound and then we saw this... a huge parade of people and lanterns...

I had to take a picture of Chris trying to make his way through the mob of people...he does not look very happy... but I can reassure you he is happy to be here... even with the masses of people.

Then we decided to join the parade with some lanterns (thanks Jenn for letting us borrow yours).

After that we hoped on the Subway and headed to Little India where they were celebrating the Depavali Festival... more lights... more people... and lots more celebration.

Here is a market that happens only during this time... have you ever seen so much color?
What a great 1st day... wow... so busy... Chris stayed up until 10:30 (rock star), we all passed out and got rest for the 2nd day... which was needed bc it was another busy packed day...

5th Day - alot of relaxing and eating...

Another great day.... Day 5 was alot of relaxing and eating... we started the day dropping Pierce off and then heading back to Holland Village (I had another meeting with some people from MOPS) but Julie got her toes done and then we headed to Chip Bee Gardens for a WONDERFUL lunch (mom you would love this place)... we had tea and fresh rice spring rolls (avocado/mango, beef, shrimp/cilantro)... it was a lovely place.... I will be back for sure...

I could get use to this kind of tea...

We had a quiet afternoon at the house with Pierce and then us grow-ups headed down to ChinaTown... Duxton Hill... Blake and I have never been here but we have heard alot of great things about it... It is an old shop house district (one street) and they have turned it into a restaurant/office district... there were about 6 different restaurants to choose from... and we picked an Australian one named ULURUH... there were alot of French ones as well.

This was the view above our table... so pretty...
Julie and Blake both ordered this amazing looking hamburger (Blake says it is one of the best ones he has had in Singapore... and it was huge (the picture does not due justice) and I ordered a steak... which was the best one I have had in Singapore... everything was yummmy... ULURUH!
