I love and adore my Grandma... she is such a sweet sweet lady. She is the definition of strength, devotion and dependable. I really feel blessed that I got to introduce my children to Grandma (whom they call Great Mama)... Great Mama has 5 children, 9 grand children, tons of great grand children and even some great great grandchildren. God has blessed us with her on many levels... we love our little time we get with her when we are in town.
I was so thrilled to introduce her to Asher. And I love this picture bc in the background is Pierce's picture on the wall. I pray I get to hold my great grand children just like grandma someday.
Having fun at Great Mama's...
Even Uncle Dell and Aunt Jeanie came to meet Asher...
Can you tell they are sisters...
Getting to meet Aunt Liz and Uncle David... who just had their first grand baby so they are totally into the baby thing... so cute.
These two have always had a special bond... I think they both could hang out for days and not get tired of each other.
What a blessing... this past Christmas we were in Texas so we were able to spend Christmas Eve with Great Mama and all of our my mom's side of the family. This is a tradition that I grew up with and just love it when all the family gets together.... Great Mama had 5 children so you can image the number of people/children that come for the fun... Pierce has been to this before but he was so small so this was a great treat for all of us and he got to meet many family members for the first time. Also we got to meet a lot of new ones for the first time as well... always a treat. Love family time.
Pierce got to take a golf cart ride with Aunt Sissy and had so much fun sitting in the golf cart rack... When they came back Aunt Sissy told me that I need to bring him to the country more bc when they were by the barn Pierce asked "what is that" as he was pointing to a lawn mover... well that is what happens when you are raised in the "concrete city of Singapore".
Once back inside (to get warm)... we ate some more and had lots of fun laughs...
Pierce had a great time with my cousins kids (what is that to him... not sure)... but there was lots of wrestling and giggling...
Time for Santa... everyone gets a present from Great Mama... oh fun times...
Getting a hug from Aunt Sissy...
And some good old American football was on the telly... does it get any better...
It does not take long for Pierce to warm up to the family... when we first got there people were asking if he was always this shy... I laughed and just said lets see if you say the same thing after we leave... check out the video and tell me what you think... SHY is not the word....
Pierce was trying to sing a song in Mandarin and my cousins would record him and use a funny app to change his voice... Pierce thought it was hilarious and had a great time getting all the attention...
He even got his hands on an app that took a picture of someone and made them look a little chubby... he got a great pic of ViVi but I promised that I would not show it... it was funny... and Pierce could not stop laughing...
A great Christmas Eve with family (sorry no pic of Great Mama... of course she was busy in the kitchen and making sure all her people were taken care of... love that woman). Can't wait to do it again.
The last 16 days have been a blast... they have come to an end and we are very sad. I think everyone is going to get some rest after these past couple of weeks but we made memories that will last a lifetime. We had to say goodbye (for now) to ViVi, Grandad and Great Mama. We had dinner at Villa Bali and then drove them to the airport so they could go home. All day yesterday Pierce kept seeing the suitcases emerge from the closets and we were slowly telling him what was going on. He handled it well until we were standing at the terminal saying Goodbye... Pierce was screaming through his tears "I want ViVi and Grandad"... "I want ViVi and Grandad"... we told him they were going back home to Texas and that we were staying in Singapore. We soon got him in the car and turned on the DVD player and he was better but within 5 minutes he asked for a present (bcViVi told him he gets a present on Sat. that they left for him). I think this is our only picture of all of us... it was a great night together... we all had tears in our eyes when they left but we know we will see them soon. This was Pierce's first time to his restaurant and he almost ate all of the chicken satay on his plate...I guess he liked them.
ViVi wanted some kisses... but Pierce was still into his movie.
Then ViVi asked for a real kiss... and boy did she get one...
And then some spit...
We already miss ViVi, Grandad and Great Mama so much... it just was not the same to wake up and not have Great Mama sitting on the couch waiting for us... when Pierce woke up this morning he asked "where is my Great Mama"... I like how he used the word my... we had a great time and can't wait to do it again...
Our last full day we spent the morning resting while Pierce was at school and then for dinner we headed to ViVo City. The guys and girls split up... the guys went to see transformers and the girls went and had Thai food and then headed over to Sentosa Island for the "Song of the Sea" show. A pic on top of ViVo City. Sorry about the quality of this picture but it was taken from our table at the restaurant a ways away from this sign that was the entrance to Sentosa Island.
Our dinner was good but the "Songs of the Sea' show was the best... the best $13 I have spent in a long time (other than the massage that I got yesterday).
We had great seats and were close to the performs as they were acting out the sounds from the speaker (a bit cheesy) but check out that gorgeous village in the background.
We thought it was going to be a laser light water show... but they had fire too... pretty cool... no it was pretty hot... but awesome.
They would take water from the ocean and project it into the sky and then shine a laser light on the "fountains"... it was amazing and I recommend it for all to see.
These are not firecrackers... this is water and light... are you impressed yet?
After the show we had some time to kill while the guys were still in the movie.... and I saw this and had to take a pic... I have met some Monks while living here and they have all been very nice but I have never seen monks in a mall going in a store to shop...
Video #1 - An awesome display of the water show... amazing... they shot water up in the sky straight from the ocean and then projected light on the water... amazing...
Not only was there water and lights... but they had fire too.
Sunday we woke up and Great Mama, Blake, Pierce and I went to church (it was a great service and the worship was awesome)... we came back home for a quick lunch and then we put Great Mama in a taxi to meet up with ViVi and Grandad for a stroll in the Botanical Gardens. While at the Botanical gardens they stopped off at the beautiful Orchid Gardens... Great Mama loved it.
Look how beautiful... the flowers and Great Mama!
This weekend we did alot of relaxing... so we stayed in the condo alot and alot of our afternoons (after nap time) and evenings are spent in this 900 sq. ft. condo...we are tight but we are having fun.
Pierce got ahold of the camera again...
After church on Sunday... Pierce wanted to take a nap on the floor using his balloon as the pillow... there has to be something dangerous about this?
We have waited on alot of buses.. here we are waiting for bus 7 for orchard rd.
On the bus... Pierce just loves riding the BIG bus (aka public bus) and he really likes to go on the second floor.
Another bus ride... Pierce loves to sit on this thing... not sure what it is or if it is even a seat but he loves it.
Monday we went to ViVo City (shopping) and today we went back to Orchard Rd to get Great Mama's hair done again and for more shopping... we have really hit the shopping malls on this trip... Blake is ready for me to stop shopping... HE HE HE. We were so busy shopping we did not take any pics... so sorry... tonight we are having dinner at the house bc tomorrow will be a big day... stay tuned... tomorrow is the last full day for our company.
Saturday started off with us leaving Great Mama at home to keep her feet up while the rest of us (excluding Blake since he was at work) went to Holland Village for some shopping. Grandad was in charge of Pierce, so ViVi and I could do some damage... lets just say we left a mark. After shopping, Pierce and I came back home to meet up with Great Mama and Daddy and while most people were taking naps... I snapped a shot of a funeral that was taking place across the street... they held the service in a house and then the tradition for Asians is to load the casket in a see through van and have the family and friends walk behind the vehicle while placing a hand on the car... A walk to honor the dead. After we all had our rest... Cena came to play with Pierce and the adults headed to Robinson Quay for dinner... we were blessed with a sneak peek at the rehearsal show for the National Day here in Singapore. Here is the pic of a fly over with the Singapore flag...
Also at this time... the River Festival is taking place..we got to see this cool boat docked for a rest... pretty interesting.
After dinner we headed to Clark Quay to wait for our 10pm reservation at the Grand Ballini (do you remember our New Years celebration.... we love this place and had to take everyone there). While we were waiting we saw a Martini Grand Prix Contest taking place...
And we watch the kite show... these are coolest things... I could not get a good shot of them in the sky bc they go so fast but a must see here in Singapore.
Our next (and last) stop of the night was Grand Ballini... we meet our friend Geoffrey there to watch the band. We had forgotten about the dress code for men... luckily they had on long pants but you are suppose to wear closed toed shoes... so the guys had to buy socks and then wear them with their shoes... I of course had to get a shot of this embarrassing moment.
Here are the guys waiting for the show...
Of course us ladies had to sit on the red couch... I have to get one of these... :-) We could not get Geoffrey in the pic bc he was talking to the waiter.
How to wear your flip flops in Asia... nice Blake!
We got home a little after midnight (we would like to blame it on Great Mama in having to get home at a descent time but I think we were all tired)... we all sleep like a baby.
